Grain of Rice Project
Grain of Rice Project is a Kenya-based non-profit organization that serves as an academy program, a artisan program, and an online shop. They operate a fair trade certified worksheet in Nanyuki, Kenya where artisans work 5 days a week to bead, sew, and weave jewelry and baskets. The team of artisans work with a team in the U.S. to create products that will be worn and treasured around the world. Each piece comes with a tag that features the name of the artisan who crafted it, along with a photo and a brief biography.
Azizi Life
Azizi Life is a brand that is based in Rwanda. They partner with over 30 different fair trade cooperatives and over 500 individual artisan partners. All of these artisans live in rural villages in Rwanda and utilize age-old weaving techniques to handcraft jewelry and home goods while also keeping traditional craft techniques alive.
Dreamer & Co.
Dreamer & Co. is a shop that partners with a co-operative in the Horn of Africa to bring handmade bead and fabric jewelry to consumers in order to provide a fair living wage for women from vulnerable and low-income areas.
Ethic Goods
Ethic Goods works with woman who have been rescued from human trafficking in South East Asia and who have been diagnosed as HIV+ in Ethiopia. The sale of their jewelry provides gainful employment, therapy, medical care, and education for these artisans.
Fair Anita
Fair Anita partners with over 8,000 artisans in developing countries. These makers hand craft unique jewelry and accessories in a safe setting and are paid a fair living wage that enables them to leave abusive domestic relationships because of their economic freedom and empowerment.
Mata Traders
Mata Traders partners with cooperatives in India and Nepal to provide gainful employment, education, medical care, paid maternity leave, and other social services to marginalized women.
Mayan Hands
Mayan Hands is a Guatemala-based non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing women with economic and educational opportunities. This initiative is design to aide women in building sustainable futures for themselves and their families, to strengthen their communities, and to keep traditional forms of art and craft alive.
Swahili Coast Design
The mission at Swahili Coast Design is to share the artistry of makers in East Africa with consumers around the world. They believe in the principles of artistry, fairness, dignity, and respect, and by supporting women-owned cooperatives in Kenya and Tanzania, they are able to do just that.
World Finds
World Finds works with over 700 talented artisans in Bali and in India. These makers are mostly women and come from cooperatives, family groups, or are members of the World Fair Trade Organization. They create unique jewelry from up cycled sari fabric and wooden beads. This dignified employment provides fair wages, capacity-building programs, and more for their makers.
